Vedic solemnisation at a recognised Arya Samaj Mandir, followed by registration under Section 8 of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955.
An Arya Samaj marriage is solemnised according to Vedic rites before a havan, in the presence of a purohit and witnesses, and is governed by the Arya Marriage Validation Act, 1937 read with the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. It is open to persons who are Hindu, Sikh, Jain or Buddhist, and to those who accept the Vedic faith.
The Mandir issues its own certificate of solemnisation. That document alone is not the government marriage certificate. The essential second step is registration under Section 8 of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 before the Registrar of Marriages, which produces the certificate that passport offices, embassies, banks and courts accept. Our office completes both steps, ordinarily on the same working day.
You and your two witnesses reach the Mandir with all originals. Documents are checked before the ceremony begins.
The purohit conducts the havan, mantras, saptapadi and exchange of garlands. The ceremony takes about an hour.
The Arya Samaj certificate of solemnisation is issued and signed by the parties and witnesses.
We file the Section 8 application before the Registrar and obtain the government marriage certificate.
We reply within 30 minutes in working hours.
Yes, provided the conditions of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 are met and the marriage is properly solemnised. It is validated by the Arya Marriage Validation Act, 1937. For practical use, the marriage should also be registered under Section 8.
Yes. The Arya Samaj does not recognise caste distinctions and inter-caste marriages are routinely solemnised, so long as both parties fall within the scope of the Hindu Marriage Act.
Where one party is Muslim, Christian, Parsi or Jewish, the appropriate route is the Special Marriage Act, 1954, which requires no conversion. We do not advise conversion merely to enable a ceremony.
The ceremony itself takes roughly an hour. Including document verification and registration, plan for most of a working day.
Typically two garlands, sweets and desi ghee. We confirm the exact list of the Mandir you are booked at before the date.
